Request an AppointmentWhat to Expect at Your Child’s First Visit
We understand that visiting the dentist for the first time can feel intimidating for children and parents alike. That is why our office is designed to feel warm and welcoming, and our team takes time to get to know your child before any treatment begins. Before your appointment, feel free to call and ask us anything. We are happy to walk you through the visit so there are no surprises.
A typical new patient visit includes:
- A friendly introduction to our team and a quick tour of the office
- A review of your child’s medical and dental history
- A gentle examination of the teeth, gums, jaw, and bite
- Low-radiation digital X-rays when needed
- A professional cleaning and fluoride treatment when appropriate
- Personalized home care tips and time for your questions
For babies and toddlers, the first appointment is often a short, relaxed “happy visit.” You can learn more on our first dental visit page.
How to Prepare Your Child
Talk about the dentist in a positive, upbeat way and avoid words like “hurt” or “shot.” Reading a picture book about going to the dentist or playing pretend at home can help. Bring a favorite stuffed animal or comfort item, and schedule the visit at a time of day when your child is usually rested and in a good mood.
Paperwork, Insurance, and Payment
To save time at check-in, you can download and complete our patient forms before your visit. Please bring your insurance card and a photo ID. We accept many dental insurance plans and offer an in-house plan for families without insurance. Visit our financial options page to see the full list of accepted plans.
A Partner in Your Child’s Oral Health
Our entire team is here to support you and your child during every appointment. We will do everything we can to make sure your child has a good experience, and we are always happy to answer questions or ease concerns before your child ever sits in the dental chair.
